Coaches Training

AYSO TRAINING REQUIREMENTS BACKGROUND: 

AYSO has announced important steps to ensure that every AYSO child has the best possible soccer learning experience. Beginning August 1, 2010, coaches and assistant coaches in the U-6 division in every AYSO Region will be required to have AYSO's age-appropriate training and AYSO Safe Haven certification when they take the field.

The new coach training policy will roll forward each year adding one additional level of required age-specific coach training until, by the 2015 membership year, every AYSO coach and assistant coach at every level will be appropriately trained for the team they will coach.

To help coaches satisfy this new requirement, AYSO is increasing its efforts to deliver this important training in more places and more frequently. To add even more flexibility for its busy volunteer coaches, AYSO is producing an online training course for U-6 coaches, to accompany its existing U-8 and U-10 online courses. The U-6 online course will be available by March 31, 2010.

Coaches (all volunteers including assistant coaches and team managers) will continue to be required to be currently registered AYSO volunteers and have AYSO Safe Haven certification.

Online courses are available via the www.aysotraining.org   website. You are required to have your AYSO ID number to log in to this website which is available via the www.eayso.org  website. The ID number is only available after you have completed the required Volunteer Application Form and had your picture id verified by an AYSO board member.

AYSO Region 1475 spring registration dates are posted on this website.
The core program is expected to grow in numbers during the spring registration period and as a result some of the currently serving assistant coaches may be asked to coach a team during the spring. 

In summary coaches are required to complete the following by 28 FEB 2010 in preparation for the upcoming season:

1. Complete a volunteer registration form (if not already done) with picture id verification.

2. Complete SAFE HAVEN training online via the www.aysotraining.org  website (requires an AYSO volunteer ID).

3. U8 and U10 complete the appropriate course online via the http://www.aysotraining.org   website (requires an AYSO volunteer ID)

4. Attend a minimum of 1 coach training sessions (indoor and outdoor events)

Chesapeake United Challenge Cup 2009

Following the TASL Tournament, some of our Plus teams entered the Challenge Cup 2009 tournament where once again they showed off their talents and winning ways.

Even though AYSO 1475 only had 6 teams assigned to 5 Divisions, AYSO teams won four of the divisions.

Fall 2009 TASL EoS Tournament Hall of Fame 

With a total of only just over 400 players in our entire (Core and Plus) program, AYSO 1475 Plus teams have shown that our program is on the right direction with great coaching, players and parental support.

The evidence is in the results of the Fall 2009 Tidewater Advance Soccer League End of Season Tournament.

AYSO 1475 had 15 Plus Teams assigned to 12 Divisions for the tournament.

Out of the 12 division assigned, AYSO 1475 teams won 7 divisions and 2 second place finish.  Three teams went undefeated throughout the season and tournament.

Four of our 15 Plus Teams were brand new Plus teams formed just before of the Fall season.

Congratulations to all players, coaches, parents and entire AYSO 1475 for a job well done.
